FIFA Singles Rules
This page contains the comprehensive rules governing gameplay and conduct within the WGL. Whilst we have endeavoured to ensure all rules provide adequate guidance to meet all eventualities, instances may occur where teams feel that further guidance is needed. In such an event, contact a member of the Admin Team.
1: League Structure
1.1 Each team will play each other twice, home and away. The result from each game will then be added together to form the final result.
1.2 The league is now one Football Association; this is called the English league. It will consist of a maximum 5 divisions, with each division consisting of 8 teams. Players will receive 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw, losses will result in zero points awarded. Goal difference is included and used to separate teams who share the same points. If the goal difference is the same, goals scored will be used. If this is the same, the result between the teams concerned will be used to denote who sits above whom in the table. In the eventuality that the result was a draw, a play off shall be played against the teams concerned to decide who takes the higher position in the table (Please note – this will only take place if the two final positions in the table are pivotal for deciding who is promoted/relegated/placed in play offs).
1.3 The bottom two teams from the top division will be relegated at the end of the season.
1.4 In the divisions below the top one, the top two teams of each division will be automatically promoted a division.
2: General
2.1 All competitors involved in The WGL are expected to know and understand all of the rules. Not knowing that a rule existed is not an excuse for breaking that rule.
2.2 Any rule being broken may lead to disciplinary action. This action will be at the discretion of the Admin(s) involved, and the situation will be taken into account. Punishment may include, but not be limited to, forfeits, replays, penalty points, kicks, temporary and permanent bans.
2.3 Each Clan is allowed a roster of a minimum of 1 player and a maximum of 1 player.
2.4 Rosters must be submitted to the website before the Season commences. A deadline date will be specified for this on the main page of the website.
2.5 You must see out the season, no one can take your place on your team.
2.6 Matches will consist of a 1v1 each week using the rivalry of the week.
2.7 Matches must be arranged and confirmed via the WGL website's fixtures functionality by the Sunday preceding each game week.
2.8 Interclan Transfers are not allowed in the WGL once the season begins.
2.9 Players who compete in the league must only use 1 gamertag and play for only 1 Clan in the league for the duration of the whole season. For all avoidance of doubt, if you play for a clan in 1 league, you will only be permitted to play for that clan in all other leagues. Players can no longer play for different clans in different leagues.
2.10 Players who leave one clan, are not permitted to participate under a different clan until the next season i.e. Only one clan per season. Any players found breaking this rule will result in instant ban from the WGL Leagues and offending teams facing severe punishments. This also includes moving between two squads in the same clan.
2.11 Your tag must match that displayed on your team roster. If you change your gamertag, you must send a Private Message to the Gamertag Admin to update it on the WGL site. Any player found to be using more than 1 gamertag to compete in different teams in the league will be permanently removed.
3: Setting up A match on FIFA 13
3.1 Please ensure you add your opponents Xbox Live Gamer Tag before you start.
3.2 One player must setup an Online Frendlies Lobby. The player who’s at home must be the one who sets up the lobby.
3.3 Xbox Live - Online Frendlies
3.4 Find your opponent Press 'A' then use the specific match settings detailed in rule 4.1
3.5 Create Session
4: Settings
4.1 These are the standard setting so no alterations and they look like this.

Team Level : Any
Half Length : 6 Mins
Controls : Any
Game Speed : Normal
Squad Type : Online
5: Virtual Pro
You cannot use your virtual pro in any singles competition, if a player has got their virtual pro selected in a match, the other player must be reminded of this, and the game re-started without the virtual pro in their team.
6: Custom Formations
You can use a customised formation; however, the customised formation must still reflect a real life football formation. An element of “common sense” must be used whilst creating a custom formation. All current default formations can be adapted to suit each individual player but what is not allowed is an excessively attacking or defensive formation (i.e. playing 6 in defence, or 6 up front). You can check if your opponent is using a custom formation by not skipping the match intro or by pausing the game at the beginning the match kick-off and going to Team Management. If opponent is using an excessively customised formation pause the game and let them know via voice chat (considering you should still be in private chat together).
7: Quitting Out
Quitting is only allowed at the start of the match if you notice that your opponent is using a custom formation or has LIVE Season ON, Quit the match and let your opponent know that they have broken the rules, go back into the game with the correct settings.
8: Lagging Out
8.1 If one of the players lags out during the match; the match must be re-started using the same settings as above, however, the score and time at the point when the player disconnected shall still stand. In the new game, the score will carry over, and the remainder of the match should be played out. E.g. Player One is 2-0 up against Player Two, Player One lags out in the 53rd minute (in game). Match will then be re-started and played up until the 37th minute with Player Two winning 2-0, at which point the score in match 2 (0-2) should be added to the score from match 1 (2-0) to form the end result (2-2 Draw).
8.2 Please note, due to the game being a ranked match, we suggest that the second match should be played to completion with a note made of the score at the time that the match should be complete. This is to ensure that no one is penalised for quitting a ranked match. Quitting out after the match has ended is at the player’s discretion, The WGL will NOT be held responsible for anyone losing their ranked points.
9: Submitting Results
Once the match is complete, BOTH players must log in to The WGL and submit their result. Failure to do so will impact on the updating efficiency of the site. If there is an issue with the result, it will get flagged; you may then be required to provide us with Match Result Proof.
10: How to obtain a Match Result
10.1 Obtaining the result - Once you've played your opponent you can highlight their name in the 'Online Frendlies' menu and press 'X' this will take you to the Season History where you can view your past results.
11: No Shows and Disputes
11.1 Both players will have agreed to and confirmed the fixture on The WGL prior to the match. Both players need to meet in the Match Lobby punctually. If your opponent does not show up after 15 minutes, without contact, then contact a League Admin. Please note that all chat logs/messages must be kept as proof in case of any protest. A player has a total of 30 minutes to show and be ready to start the match. Failure to do so could result in a 3-0 default loss. Players are solely responsible for the scheduling date and time of the match.
11.2 To receive a forfeit win, you must provide proof that your opponent did not show, and that the game was scheduled for that time. Agreed proof will include the forum AND either messages, videos or photographic proof.  If there is still sufficient time left during the current playing week, the players should try to re-arrange the fixture and completed once more. This cannot be done until a League Admin has been contacted about the initial problem.
11.3 After the no show, the League Admin will try to contact your opponent and will make a ruling on when the game can be played. Common sense will be used; a forfeit will not be given if a previous game has overrun etc or if the opposing player has informed you that they will be late for whatever reason. Default wins will only be given on the occasions where there is a complete no show on the agreed time and date without any communication or explanation as to why they were not going to be there. Please note, that common sense will always be used first, making the decision to award a default loss will not be made lightly.
11.4 There is a simple sanction process in place for the players who are awarded default losses, they are as follows:

1st Default Loss = A Written Warning via PM.
2nd Default Loss = A Yellow Card, a further 3pts deducted.
3rd Default Loss = A Red Card, Removal from current league.

11.5 The Admins reserve the right to remove players from the league at any point if they are not fulfilling the fixtures.
12: Arranging of Fixtures
12.1 It's the responsibility of both the Home and Away teams to ensure that the matches are arranged before the Sunday deadline of each week.
12.2 If you feel at any point you can't reach the opposition PM an admin as soon as possible.
Admins will contact players throughout the week as a reminder to arrange games, there will be a final reminder post out on the Sunday of each week.
12.3 If a player doesn't meet the Sunday deadline 2 weeks in a row they will not be allowed to participate in Fifa tournaments.
13. Unsportsmanlike Conduct
13.1
Deliberately impeding the goalkeeper is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, blocking the goalkeeper during set pieces, and deliberately running across the goalkeeper during dropkicks and throws.
13.2 Any team that is adjudged to have deliberately impeded the goalkeeper during play to gain an advantage (I.e. a goal), will automatically lose their fixture 3-0. Each case will be reviewed by the submission of video evidence..
