FIFA Pairs Rules
This page contains the comprehensive rules governing gameplay and conduct within the WGL. Whilst we have endeavoured to ensure all rules provide adequate guidance to meet all eventualities, instances may occur where teams feel that further guidance is needed. In such an event, contact a member of the Admin Team.
1: LEAGUE STRUCTURE
Each team will play each other twice, home and away fixtures. The home team is always the first weekly team chosen.
The result from each game will then be added together to form the final result.

Left Side = Home
Right Side = Away

The league is four divisions The Premiership, The Championship, Division 1 & Division 2. Teams will receive 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw, losses will result in zero points awarded. Goal difference is included and used to separate teams who share the same points. If the goal difference is the same, goals scored will be used. If this is the same, the result between the teams concerned will be used to denote who sits above whom in the table. In the eventuality that the result was a draw, a play off shall be played against the teams concerned to decide who takes the higher position in the table (Please note – this will only take place if the two final positions in the table are pivotal for deciding who is placed in the play offs).
2: SETTING UP A MATCH ON FIFA
Please Note the way games are setup online has changed from The Xbox FIFA Leagues’ rules.

One player must setup an Online Lobby. The pair who’s at home must be the one who sets up the lobby.

3: CUSTOM FORMATIONS
You can use a customised formation; however, the customised formation must still reflect a real life football formation. An element of “common sense” must be used whilst creating a custom formation. All current default formations can be adapted to suit each individual player but what is not allowed is an excessively attacking or defensive formation (i.e. playing 6 in defence, or 6 up front). You can check if your opponent is using a custom formation by not skipping the match intro or by pausing the game at the beginning the match kick-off and going to Team Management. If opponent is using an excessively customised formation pause the game and let them know via voice chat (considering you should still be in private chat together).
4: QUITTING OUT
Quitting is only allowed at the start of the match if you notice that your opponent is using an excessively customised formation or there is unplayable lag. Quit the match immediately and let your opponent, go back into the game with the correct settings.
5: LAGGING OUT
If one of the players lags out during the match; the match must be re-started using the same settings as above, however, the score and time at the point when the player disconnected shall still stand. In the new game, the score will carry over, and the remainder of the match should be played out. E.g. Team One is 2-0 up against Team Two, Team One lags out in the 53rd minute (in game). Match will then be re-started and played up until the 37th minute with Team Two winning 2-0, at which point the score in match 2 (0-2) should be added to the score from match 1 (2-0) to form the end result (2-2 Draw)
6: CHEATING
If you believe that the opposition are cheating during the match by having one player control the whole of their team, you will need to provide photographic or video evidence to show this, as accusations will need to be substantiated with evidence. To spot a team who are cheating, watch their player who has possession of the ball, once that player passes the ball; check that the receiving player is controlled by a different gamertag. Another way to spot a cheating team is if the other team has one player with the same gamertag above his head all game (i.e. that player is not playing as an ANY).

If you wish to make a substitution or change formation during the match, you must ensure that the ball is out of play, or better still, during the half time break. The other team could otherwise accuse your team of cheating since your gamertag would not be appearing above the heads of any players. You make substitutions at your own discretion, if we receive evidence to suggest that your team has been cheating, and the only reason for it would be making a substitute, we will treat this as cheating as we have already stated that any substitutions or tactical changes should be made whilst the ball is out of play or during the half time break.

We are also including a sportsmanship rule for season 2 This will allow the admins to use common sense in making decisions in order to stop teams using the rules specifically to get a default win.
7: SUBMITTING RESULTS
Once the match is complete, the captain of both pairs teams must log in to The WGL and submit their result. Failure to do so will impact on the updating efficiency of the site. If there is an issue with the result, it will get flagged; you may then be required to provide us with Match Result Proof.
8: HOW TO OBTAIN MATCH RESULT PROOF
With your camera or phone, take a photo of the match result screen, ensuring that all 4 gamertags are present in the photo.
9. NO SHOWS & DISPUTES
Both pairs captains will have agreed to and confirmed the fixture on The WGL prior to the match. All four players need to meet in the Match Lobby punctually. If your opponent does not show up after 15 minutes, without contact, then contact a League Admin. Please note that all chat logs/messages must be kept as proof in case of any protest. A pairs team has a total of 15 minutes to show and be ready to start the match. Failure to do so could result in a 3-0 default loss. Pairs teams are solely responsible for the scheduling date and time of the match.

To receive a default win, you must provide proof that your opponent did not show, and that the game was scheduled for that time. Agreed proof will include the forum AND either messages, videos or photographic proof. If there is still sufficient time left during the current playing week, the players should try to re-arrange the fixture and completed once more. This cannot be done until a League Admin has been contacted about the initial problem.

After the no show, the League Admin will try to contact your opponent and will make a ruling on when the game can be played. Common sense will be used; a default will not be given if a previous game has overrun or if the opposing player has informed you that they will be late for whatever reason. Default wins will only be given on the occasions where there is a complete no show on the agreed time and date without any communication or explanation as to why they were not going to be there. Please note, that common sense will always be used first, making the decision to award a default loss will not be made lightly.

There is a simple sanction process in place for the players who are awarded default losses, they are as follows:

1 no show = a warning + default loss of 3-0
2 no shows = removal from the league
10: Arranging of Fixtures
· It is the responsibility of the Home Team to ensure a match date and time has been set on the Fixture for the Away Team to confirm or query.
· You will need to query the Date and Time, via the Match Bubble to ensure we can see a chain of events.
· If the date is still set as the default settings on the Monday at 09.00 am the Away Team will receive the default win.
· If the Home Team has set a Match Date and Time and the Away Team has not made contact via the Match Bubble to ask for an amendment nor confirmed the match we will award the Home Team the Win.

Each team, be it Singles, Pairs or Clubs need to be aware that they have a responsibility to ensure fixtures are confirm within the given time frame set by the FIFA Admin Team.

In arranging your match you can do so via any means available to you xbl, text message, pm's via the wgl site or the said persons clan web site, chat boxes. BUT the details of such contact must be added to the match bubble in your fixture arrangement. this is so the admins can keep a track of events.
11. Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Deliberately impeding the goalkeeper is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, blocking the goalkeeper during set pieces, and deliberately running across the goalkeeper during dropkicks and throws.

Any team that is adjudged to have deliberately impeded the goalkeeper during play to gain an advantage (I.e. a goal), will automatically lose their fixture 3-0. Each case will be reviewed by the submission of video evidence..
