Pairs Cup Rules
This page contains the comprehensive rules governing gameplay and conduct within the WGL. This page is relevant ONLY to the Pairs cup tournament.
1: Tournament structure
The Pairs Cup will consist of a single elimination structure. Each round one team from each fixture will progress to the next round, those defeated are out of the tournament.
2: General
2.1 All competitors involved in The WGL are expected to know and understand all of the rules. Not knowing that a rule existed is not an excuse for breaking that rule.
2.2 Any rule being broken may lead to disciplinary action. This action will be at the discretion of the Admin(s) involved, and the situation will be taken into account. Punishment may include, but not be limited to, forfeits, replays, penalty points, kicks, temporary and permanent bans.
2.3 Each Clan must have 2 players, there are no subs allowed.
2.4 Rosters must be submitted to the website before with all clan preferences set before the CUP begins
2.5 Players are allowed to make new teams for one day cups even if they are competing in other clans for full leagues
2.6 Matches will consist of one team of up to 2 players facing another team of up to 2 players.
2.7 Matches must be played as quickly as possible. If a team introduces an unnecessary delay a forfit will be given.
2.8 Interclan Transfers are not allowed in the WGL once the cup begins.
2.9 There are no subs allowed, those that play game on play throughout the one day cup.
2.10 Players who compete in the cup must only use 1 gamertag and play for only 1 Clan in the cup for the duration of the cup. For all avoidance of doubt, once you play for one team you can not play for another even if your first team is out.
2.11 Players who leave one clan, are not permitted to participate under a different clan until the end of the cup i.e. Only one clan per cup. Any players found breaking this rule will result in instant ban from the WGL Leagues and offending teams facing severe punishments. This also includes moving between two squads in the same clan.
2.12 Your tag must match that displayed on your team roster. If you change your gamertag, you must send a Private Message to the gamertag Admin to update it on the WGL site. Any player found to be using more than 1 gamertag to compete in different teams in the league will be permanently removed.
3: Tournament format
3.1 The Pairs cup will follow single elimination format
3.2 Seeding for this tournament is random due to it being the first Pairs cup.
3.3 Each team will select their own team, duplicate teams are allowed. (i.e Liverpool vs Liverpool)
3.4 Custom formations are not allowed.
3.5 For the cup each team must have 2 ANY players
4: Match Settings
4.1 Each game is played within the online custom game mode, each setting must be default. Each half will be 6 minutes.
4.2 The team on the top of the bracket will host.
4.3 In the event of a draw, the game i replayed until a winner i found.
5: Human Any Player
5.1 In the event of a player getting removed from the game because of a red card the game must be stopped.
5.2 The game will be restarted from the minute the player was kicked and the match will be played for the rest of the duration.
6: Submitting Results
Each round result MUST be reported via the
submit cup result on the user menu.
7: No Shows & Disputes
Once you know your opponent for the round you have 15 minutes to get in contact and begin the next round. If your opponent doesn’t show up or contact you within this time frame
PM an admin. Likewise if you have any problems during the game contact an
admin.
8: Arranging your match
8.1 It's important you contact your opponent ASAP once you know who it is.
8.2 There is a 15 minute time slot to do this, if you fail to get in touch within this time you will forfeit your position in the tournament.
8.3 If you are top of the bracket please add the other team and invite them to the match. If you are bottom please get in touch with the other team for an invite.
9: Game Lag / Any Player Lagging Out
9.1 Quitting is only allowed at the start of the match if your players have not made it into the game from the game lobby, or if there is unplayable lag within the first 5 minutes in game.
9.2 If the ANY player of either team lags out during the match or if one team’s player numbers drops to below the minimum of 3; the match must be re-started; however, the score and time at the point when the player disconnected shall still stand. In the new game, the score will carry over, and the remainder of the match should be played out.
10: Unsportsmanlike Conduct
10.1 Deliberately impeding the goalkeeper is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, blocking the goalkeeper during set pieces, and deliberately running across the goalkeeper during dropkicks and throws.
10.2 Any team that is adjudged to have deliberately impeded the goalkeeper during play to gain an advantage (I.e. a goal), will automatically lose their fixture 3-0. Each case will be reviewed by the submission of video evidence..
