4v4 Core Week 4 Round Up - Prem, Champ, Div 1, Div 2
Wednesday, 20 June 2012 19:06

Welcome back people of WGL, to my round up of results played in the Premiership, Championship, Division One and Division Two, this time, from Week 4 matches. As we now approach the half way point in the season, we are starting to see some teams pull away from the rest of the pack, whilst others are struggling to find the elusive win they need to get out of the relegation zone. I wonder if this week if anymore upsets have occurred, and how the tables have been affected.

Premiership:

This week the Premierships first match of the week wasn’t played until Thursday, keeping the teams in suspense as they awaited the scores of those placed next to them in the table. However when it did start, all four matches came at once!

The first of these matches was between aD and BeM:T, two teams who were sitting mid table, BeM slightly having the upper hand with two wins rather than one. My personal opinion would have been BeM to win 2-0, which is exactly what they went and did, taking both maps to win the match. As a result, BeM are now in 3rd place with 9 points, whilst aD drop down a place to 7th.

For those most acute people who have watched the tables extensively, you will already know that the reason for ad dropping a place is due to Total or vT:C winning their first matches of the season. Well as both were playing each other this week, there could of course, only be one of them who emerged victorious. It goes from bad to worse unfortunately for the lads over at vT:C, as it was they who suffered another 2-0 loss, putting Total in 6th place now.

The last match on Thursday was between RNX and vT:A, in what some may refer to as an eagerly anticipated match between two top flight teams in the Premiership. I certainly was to say the least, but, and it is a big but, what would the WGL be without a few defaults being handed out?! Well unfortunately that is what happened here, after non-stop messaging their entire roster for 40 minutes but to no avail, we had no choice but to take the default. Really is a shame as I hate taking defaults and this match was set to be a close one. vT maintain their top spot, whilst RNX slip down to 4th following this defeat.

Lastly for the Premiership, was a match between proTo and ConfQ, in what turned out to almost be another default game. ConfQ after deciding at the dew point of time in which the match was meant to start, wanted to re-arrange, something that proTo weren’t about to accept at such short notice. However exactly 15 minutes later ConfQ decide to play, and were able to take away a 2-0 victory, something proTo will be very annoyed about. proTo now end up in 5th, whilst ConfQ stay head to head with vT:A at the top of the table.

Championship:

A different kettle of fish for the Championship as DoW kicked things off early on in the week against BeM:I, the obvious favourites were of course DoW, having won two matches compared to just the one win for BeM. The tides were certainly in the dog’s quarters this week, taking their 3rd win of the season to put them 2nd in the table, taking both maps. BeM:I are now in 7th.

ezG were to face off against 3D gaming, which comes to no surprise that Bricey allowed another default to be handed out (yes I will pit all blame on Bricey even though it is not his fault). ezG therefore take both maps and jump into 3rd position now, whilst 3D Gaming sit rock bottom. Ah and now that I look at the table closer, 3D have now defaulted their remaining games due to Mel stepping in as enough is enough. Shame on you 3D!

Tuesday night saw aF go head to head against TG:A, aF heading into the game undefeated without dropping a single map, leaving TG with everything to do in order to win this match. Their all wasn’t enough though, as aF take their 4th consecutive 2-0 win and stay top of the table, three points clear of DoW. TG slip down to 5th on 6 points, and will want to be getting another win back on the board next week, whilst being annoyed at themselves for not being able to capitalise on eNigma losing their match this week as well.

This brings me onto the final Championship match of the week, between vT:B and eNigma. eNigma were only able to play with two people though..... So it is no surprise vT were able to take a victory away from this match. Somehow, and apparently one of the players on eNigma went absolutely huge in the SnD, thus leading to eNigma actually taking the SnD map!!! Nevertheless, vT:B were able to win 2-1 overall and take the three points which is all that matters at the end of the day.

Division One:

Monday night starred the opening match of the week between iG:FER and NGG, both teams only separated by 3 points in the table, iG having the upper hand with the extra win. Another win was added to IG’s tally, as they took down NGG 2-0 to progress onto 9 points for the season, and are now clear in 3rd place following Fusion’s loss this week. NGG are down in the dumps in 6th, but certainly not out as yet, with two matches still to play they could certainly finish well if they put their minds to it.

Tuesday evening came about where Fusion and Horizon battled it out, with Fusion hoping to leave their mark on the game. Fusion had 6 points to their name already going into this match, having won two of their three games, but Horizon who have been on magnificent form have beaten everyone they have laid their eyes upon 2-0 thus far. This week, it was no different, as Horizon swept Fusion out the way with another 2-0 win, remaining top of the table. Fusion resides in 4th on 6 points following this loss.

Thursday night concluded Division One match for the week, as the remaining two matches both took place, first of which being, WR:T vs. TLU:M. Before entering into this match TLU had a mere 3 points, but WR were still searching for their first win of the season! Well they need not look further anymore, as they pulled off a remarkable 2-1 victory, sealing the 3 points they so desperately needed. Is this a late bid from WR to evade relegation?

The second match of the night was between iNFT.Z and SaS:TV, two teams performing very differently this season that’s for certain. It is clearly visible that iNFT have been struggling against the teams so far, as they are still without a win, whilst SaS have managed to win all their matches, only dropping one map! This match did as you can imagine, go to SaS and claimed their 3rd 2-0 win of the season, still staying hot on the heels of Horizon. iNFT remain bottom of the table, relegation seems imminent for them.

Division Two:

Monday was the host night for two matches in this division, one of which being FeS vs. BaT:I. BaT have only lost one match since the start of the season and were sitting in 2nd position, whilst FeS hadn’t managed to win one match ... and with only two maps to their name. Therefore it is no small surprise that BaT walked away with yet another 2-0 victory under their belt, remaining in 2nd place in the table.

The team whom BaT:I have been chasing since Day One of the season, BTR, were the other team to play Monday night, as they faced the other BaT team, BaT:Es. Baring in mind BTR had not lost a map up to this point, your logic would instantly say BTR 2-0 win ... right? Wrong, BTR were able to win the match, but not in a 2-0 manner they had hoped for, as BaT:Es had managed to snatch a map from them, albeit a small forestalment of their fate. BTR remain top, 3 points clear, meanwhile BaT:Es stay put in 5th place.

Next up was a mid table showdown between two new teams to the WGL, ThGz:S and ReGaMx. Both of these teams had only managed to conjure up one win a piece, resulting in this match going to whoever was on form on the night. Judging by the result, ThGz must have put in a sterling performance, as they took the match by force, beating ReGaMx 2-0, as a result pushing ThGz up to 4th. Meanwhile, ReGaMx slip a little further down the table into 6th.

Last of all to finish up for the week, was high flying team dF:AuD against the under performing team of SaS:TC. dF have been putting in the work, resulting in them having 3 wins out of a possible 4, as they lie in 3rd in the table. In contrast to SaS:TC, who have produced one win out of a possible 4, leaving them dawdling behind in 7th. Things get worse for SaS, as they suffer another 2-0 loss, gifting dF another 3 points to stay neck and neck with BaT:I. Are SaS becoming a lost cause in this division now? Maybe we will see an epic comeback to survive relegation.

That’s all for this week, confirm those matches on time and keep having fun. Shame on those who have gifted defaults this week. Sorry about no tables being included, the amount of defaults handed out I can’t keep track on what the actual standings and round difference should be at the end of each week.

On that note, I bid you farewell.
